Description: Aminophy tablet Aminophy Hydrate .which is a bronchodilator. These drugs are used to open air passages and facilitate breathing by producing bronchodilation. They are able to diminish bronchospasms by relaxing smooth muscles of the bronchioles, Providing respiratory relief from the conditions such as asthma,bronchitis,emphysema bronchiectasis.
Indications:

1. Aminophy is indicated in the diseases of cardiovascular system.bronchopneumonia, bronchitis and cardiac,Pulmonary or renal oedema.lt has also been employed in the treatment of Anginapectoris.

2. It is indicated for bronchial asthma and for reversible bronchospasm associated with chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

3. It is used as a respiratory stimulant in neonatal apnea and in Cheyne-Stokes respiration.

Contraindications: Aminophy tablets are contraindicated in Patients with a known hypersensitivity lo aminphy and any of its components (Theophy and ethylenediamine). It is also contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcer disease or in patients with underlying seizure disorders.

Pharmacokinetics: Aminophy is readily absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract and from the rectal mucosa. Absorption is rapid from retention enemas but less predictable from suppositories. Theophylline,the active drug,is readily released in the body. Theophy is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract than Aminophy.
At least 60% theophy may be bound to plasma proteins. Theophy is excresled in the urine as Metabolites mainly,
1.3 dimethyluric acid and 3-Methylxanthene and about 10% is excreted unchanged. There are a marked variations in the Theophylline Pharmacokinetics,plasma concentration from about 5 to 10 mcg/ml have been reported.Theophylline has also been reported to placenta diffuse into the breast milk.
Dosage: 100mg - 300mg / day or as directed by the Physician
