-----Indications:
1. It is used for various anaerobic bacterial infections, such as sepsis, endocarditis, empyema, lung abscess, abdominal infection, pelvic infection, gynecological infection, bone and joint infection, meningitis, brain abscess, skin and soft tissue infection, antibiotic-associated enteritis caused by Clostridium difficile, Helicobacter pylori associated gastritis or peptic ulcer, periodontal infection and Gardner's vaginitis. It can also be used as a prophylactic for certain contaminated or potentially contaminated surgeries, such as colorectal elective surgery.
2. It is used to treat vaginal trichomoniasis.
3. It is used to treat intestinal and parenteral amoebiasis (such as amoebiasis liver abscess, thoracic amoebiasis, etc.).
4. It can also be used to treat balsamiasis, cutaneous leishmaniasis, guinea worm disease, Giardiasis and so on.
Adverse Reaction:
1. The most serious side effects of this product are seizures and peripheral neuropathy at high doses, the latter mainly manifested as acronumbness and paresthesia. Persistent peripheral neuropathy may occur in some cases with prolonged use.
2. Other common adverse reactions are:
(1) Gastrointestinal reactions, such as nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, altered taste, dry mouth, metallic mouth taste, etc.;
(2) reversible granulocytopenia;
(3) Allergic reaction, rash, urticaria, pruritus, etc.;
(4) Central nervous system symptoms, such as headache, dizziness, syncope, paresthesia, limb numbness, ataxia, and confusion;
(5) Others have fever, vaginal candida infection, cystitis, dysuria, black urine color, etc., are reversible, and recover after stopping the drug.
Usage & Dosage:
Take it orally.
one Normal adult dosage
(1) Anaerobic bacteria infection: 0.5g a time, 3 times a day, the course of treatment for 7 days or longer, the maximum dose of a day shall not be greater than 4g.
(2) Intestinal infection: 0.5g at a time, 3 times a day.
(3) Antibiotic-related enteritis: 0.5g a time, 3 to 4 times a day.
(4) Helicobacter pylori related gastritis and peptic ulcer: 0.5g a time, 3 times a day, combined with other antibiotics, a course of 7 to 14 days.
(5) Protozoal infection:
a. Intestinal amoebiasis, 0.4 ~ 0.6g, 3 times a day, the course of treatment for 7 days;
b. ectointestinal amoebiasis, 0.6 ~ 0.8g, 3 times a day, the course of treatment is 20 days;
c. Giardiasis, 0.4g once, 3 times a day, treatment course 5 ~ 10 days;
d. Dracunculiasis, 0.2g at a time, a course of 7 days;
e. Balsamiasis, 0.2g once, twice a day, treatment for 5 days;
f. Skin leishmaniasis, 0.2g a time, 4 times a day, 10 days of treatment, interval of 10 days to repeat a course of treatment;
g. Trichomoniasis, 0.2g once, 4 times a day, the course of treatment for 7 days; Suppository can be used at the same time, 0.5g per night into the vagina, for 7 to 10 days.
2. Normal dosage for children
(1) Anaerobic bacteria infection: Oral administration according to body weight 20 ~ 50mg/kg per day.
(2) Amebiasis: according to body weight 35 ~ 50mg/kg per day, divided into 3 oral sessions, the course of 10 days.
(3) Trichomoniasis, balsamiasis, dracunculiasis, Giardiasis: according to body weight 15 ~ 25mg/kg per day, divided into 3 oral, course of 10 days.
